Be sure to read the Special Notes further down this page for important requirements and restriction.

The Lofoten Islands are not only known for their majestic scenery, snow-peaked mountains, fjords, sandy beaches, midnight sun and northern lights but also for the history that you can touch and feel. After boarding your motorcoach at the Gravdal pier, you'll set out across spectacular Lofoten to explore two living history museums.

After traveling through the Nappstraumen undersea tunnel you'll drive along Flakstad Bay with its shiny white beaches and crystal-blue water to the enchanting town of Rein, one of the most idyllic and best-preserved fishing villages in Norway. Reine has been a commercial centre since 1743. Today tourism is important, and despite its remote location and its low population (307 inhabitants), many thousands of people visit annually. The largest weekly magazine in Norway, Allers, selected Reine as the most beautiful village in Norway in the late 1970s.
After your tour, you'll board your motorcoach for a short drive to the Lofotr Viking Museum in Borg. In 1982, a local farmer uncovered a few interesting pots in his field. A year later, archaeologists began to excavate the remains of the largest Viking structure ever to be found in Europe. Dated to be at least 1,500 years old, the property is believed to have belonged to one of the most important chieftains in the Viking region. Today, the museum displays a reconstruction of his house. When you enter the dwelling, it's like being transported back in time. Glowing ceiling lamps, flickering hearths, and the smell of tar permeates the air. Guides in authentic Viking costumes will lead you to the various exhibits where you can watch craftsmen at work and view ancient artifacts.
