Chester was founded by Romans as a military camp in the first century A.D. This all-day tour gives you historical insight into this Roman city. You'll witness its historic towers and ancient gates, as well as its unique 13th-century 'rows,' half-timbered galleried shops on two stories. You'll make your way to the Chester Cathedral, a 13th-century Norman cathedral originally an abbey church, and site of Handel's first public performance of 'The Messiah' in 1742. You'll also have an opportunity to snap a photo of the Eastgate Clock, said to be the most photographed clock in England after Big Ben. Next, you're on your own to enjoy lunch and browse and shop for 2 1/2 hours before boarding your motorcoach for your return drive to Liverpool.
