We start this half-day tour driving by the old Alfama district, with its Moorish architecture, before heading to the city's fabulous Maritime Museum. Located in a building at the Jeronimos Monastery, the museum focuses on Portugal's pioneering role in sea exploration. Then it's just a short walk to the magnificent Jeronimos Monastery, which was financed by the wealthy spice trade. Stroll around the church that features fine Renaissance and Gothic architecture, as well as imposing spires, carvings, tombs and ornate arches for an exterior explanation and some free time for photos. Then an outside visit the unique Belem Tower, which was built to defend the harbor and sits on the edge of the River Tagus, before heading to the Monument to the Discoveries, which is shaped like the prow of a ship, for your final photo-stop of the day.
