Exploring a town on foot is one of the best ways to feel like a local, and your day spent in historic Omodos is an opportunity to discover its hidden gems. Bring your camera and some comfortable shoes for this half-day walking tour of this charming Cypriot village. A motorcoach brings you to town, where you can stroll through the shops surrounding the village's main plaza for souvenirs and stop for locally made Halloumi cheese and wine at a tavern. Visit the Monastery of the Holy Cross, founded thousands of years ago. When Saint Helen visited here in 327 A.D., she presented the monastery with a valuable Christian artifact: a section of the rope that supposedly bound Jesus to the cross. A museum showcases a collection of religious artifacts. On your return drive to port, look out the window for lovely views of citrus groves, vineyards, and a glimpse of medieval Kolossi Castle.
