Get up-close views of the spectacular heritage buildings that make up the Plaza Mayor, or Plaza de Armas, located in the heart of Lima's historic center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Your 4.5-hour walking tour takes in all the landmarks of this central square and includes the Government Palace, which anchors the north side of the plaza and was commissioned by Francisco Pizarro in 1535. The Casa del Oidor is resplendent with colonial balconies, and the grand colonial Archbishop's Palace delights with its granite façade. The Cathedral of Lima is dominated by two soaring towers and three massive gateways. See the Palace of the Union, the neo-colonial Municipal Palace, and the sparkling Central Fountain, which anchors it all. You'll also see the San Francisco Monastery, the most important religious monument of Lima, and the Convent of Santo Domingo. Nearby, 18th century Osambela House captures the cultural heart of Lima. Enjoy a delicious fruit juice at a local restaurant in Old Town before returning to port.
