Enjoy a four-hour excursion visiting the impressive artworks of César Manrique. First, you'll travel through the crater-filled landscape to Los Jameos del Agua, a four-mile long volcanic tunnel with openings. Manrique's vision turned these openings into a tropical garden, a pool, a bar and a 600-seat auditorium. Next is Jardín de Cactus, which was built on an old quarry of volcanic ashes. At the entrance sits Manrique's 26-foot tall green metal cactus. Then, you'll visit the Mirador del Rio, Lanzarote's most famous viewpoint. A recreational and ecological park, Mirador del Rio has a history as an old gun emplacement, dating from 1898, when Spain was at war with the United States over Cuba.Your last stop is El Castillo de San Jose. Built in the 18th century to defend the island against pirate attacks, Manrique renovated the castle in 1975 and today it holds the International Museum of Contemporary of Art. You'll return to port along the same scenic route.
