Journey to Florence, the jewel of the Renaissance, for a guided walking experience rich in cultural and artistic significance on a full-day adventure. Your 120-minute motorcoach ride from La Spezia brings you to the city's center where you'll be within steps of Il Duomo - the model from which the dome of St. Peter's Dome was built. You'll see Giotto's Bell Tower and the Baptistery noted for its beautiful, gilded bronze doors - the east door depicts scenes from the Old Testament and is referred to as the "Gates of Paradise." Stroll further and discover the Piazza della Signoria, Florence's governmental center adorned with magnificent statues including a replica of Michelangelo's David. Enjoy lunch and pause for a photo at the Ponte Vecchio bridge before a visit to Santa Croce Church. Concludes your visit with a countryside ride to Pisa and its famous Leaning Tower located in the Square of Miracles, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Return to port.
Special Notes:
Proper attire that covers shoulders and knees is recommended for both men and women for the Church of Santa Croce. Also, photography is not permitted inside.The drive between La Spezia and Florence is approximately 2 hours each way, subject to traffic conditions.
All sightseeing will be on foot, as motorcoaches are not allowed in the main center of Florence. Most of the sights are seen from the outside only.
Please be aware that ongoing restoration work is often being carried out at the various sites in the city.
