One of the best ways to get to know a city and its people is through its use of art, history and cuisine. And during this leisurely walking tour you'll enjoy all three. Once in Old Town, you'll follow your guide along Via Cavour, one of La Spezia's main streets known for its elegant 19th century buildings. One of the first sites you'll visit is the 700-year-old Saint Mary Assumption Church followed by a treat of "farinata," a crispy pancake made with chickpea flour, and a glass of wine. Refreshed, you'll continue on to the Museum of the Seals where you'll view seals from ancient Egypt to the Middle Ages. Have your cameras ready as you take in magnificent views from the top of the terrace of San Giorgio's Castle. For a look at one of the largest collections of ancient Roman artifacts, you'll visit Ubaldo Formentini Museum.
Special Notes:
Space is limited, so please reserve early. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended. This tour is not recommended for guests using wheelchairs or mobility problems as it involves steps and cobblestones. Inside St. George Castle the lift will be used to reach the terrace.Details
