Board your coach and travel north on the approximately one-hour drive from Kushiro to Akan National Park, passing Kushiro Wetlands National Park along the way. Before heading for Lake Akan, you will first stop Kushiro Shitsugen observatory. Then, drive to Lake Akan, a caldera lake formed some 6,000 years ago after a volcanic eruption. The lake is famous for its unique algae, which can grow into round bunches the size of soccer balls, and its kokanee trout - actually landlocked sockeye salmon. Enjoy views of the lake en route to Akankohan. Board a boat for a cruise of Lake Akan and a visit of the Marimo Aquatic Exhibition Center on one of the lake's small islands. Continue to a lakeside resort noted for its hot springs. Finishing the boat excursion, you will take a rest and have lunch in the local restaurant. Conclude the day with a picturesque drive back to the port.

Japanese styled lunch will be served.The boat excursion may be canceled in case of bad weather.
Marimo is one of the plants on the verge of extinction. Boat will not go into the area where natural Marimo lives. Guests can observe the plant in the Marimo center.
In the Kushiro Shitsugen observatory, there is only few English explanation.
