Grab your swimsuit and escape to the cool refuge of Lake Skadar. Far off the beaten track, the seclusion and serenity of the site are unsurpassed. After boarding your coach, you'll set out on a scenic 90-minute drive through the countryside and into Lake Skadar National Park. But the time spent is well worth the wait. Once you arrive, you'll step onto the boat. Feel the breeze in your hair as you cruise the largest freshwater lake in the Balkans, acclaimed as the last remaining habitat of pelicans and the largest bird reservation in Europe. Once the summer residence of the Montenegrin royal family, today its home to lily-strewn lakeshores, monasteries, fishing villages and islands. At a local restaurant, fish from the lake will be served for lunch
Special Notes:
Swimming depends on local weather conditions and it is done from the boat, not from a beach. Wear your swimsuit under your clothes and bring a towel if you plan to swim. Take sunblock, head cover and sunglasses. Guests must negotiate three steps (with handrail) to get on and off the boat. The drive to Lake Skadar is 90 minutes each way. Although the lake is also well known for its many species of birds, the sightings are unlikely during late morning and afternoon hours, especially during the hot summer months.Details
