At Kotor's small harbor, meet your guide before boarding the motorcoach for a scenic drive up the narrow mountain road to Njegusi. This charming village was the birthplace of Peter Petrovic-Njegos, considered the most important leader in Montenegrin history. At a local restaurant, sample regional foods including smoked ham, cheese and local brandy. Head to the old capital of Montenegro, Cetinje and tour the National Museum, which is housed in a former palace. Descend the mountains to Budva, a popular seaside resort and one of the oldest settlements in the Balkans. Enjoy a photo stop at a mountain overlook that offers panoramic views of Budva area. In Kotor, visit St. Tryphon Cathedral, which was completed in 1166, and the Maritime Museum, which is housed in the 17th century Grgurina Palace, and chronicles Kotor's glory days as one of the Adriatic's major naval powers.
Special Notes:
The mountain road to Njegusi is narrow and winding. The road includes 25 hairpin turns and ascends approximately 3,000 feet along steep dropoffs. Passengers with a fear of heights or subject to car sickness should take this into consideration when booking this tour. An alternate route may be taken in case of poor conditions.Passengers must walk extensive distances and negotiate uneven surfaces. Not suited for passengers in wheelchair or with limited mobility. Wear sturdy, comfortable walking shoes and bring a hat.
When visiting sacred sites wear conservative attire. Clothing should cover the shoulders and knees. Shorts are not permitted.
