Explore the highly restricted and preserved Kahuku unit of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park on this unique island tour. Visit Bay View Farms, a 24-acre Kona coffee farm nestled on the slopes of Mauna Loa volcano with views of Kealakekua Bay. Unlock the secrets of making great coffee with a tour of the farm and a tasty sampling. Next on the itinerary is a photo stop at St. Benedict's Painted Church, noted for its interior walls and ceilings that are covered in hand-painted frescoes and murals dating back over 100 years. Arrive at the 116,000 acre Kahuku Unit of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, where your guide leads down a trail past cinder cones, lava tree molds, and a hidden meadow of old growth native trees. Walk across the dramatic and surreal landscape. Back on the van, you'll continue to picturesque Punalu'u Beach, Hawaii's most famous black sand beach, to look for honu ( Hawaiian Green sea turtle). Lunch and shopping add to the day's excitement.
