WHAT YOU WILL SEE ALONG THE WAY
Kodiak Island Seacoast – Come aboard with Captain Dave, a Kodiak islander with more than 30 years of experience navigating these waters. His extensive knowledge of local history, native wildlife and the commercial fishing industry help make this tour a fascinating and unforgettable journey. The vessel is comfortable and spacious, offering great viewing and photographic opportunities. So settle in as you head through the bustling harbor – one of the nation's busiest commercial fishing ports and summer home to the famous "Deadliest Catch" crabbing fleet. Cruise out to nearby bird rookeries, where hundreds or even thousands of kittiwakes and both tufted and horned puffins nest. On the sheer, windswept cliffs, you may spot majestic bald eagles nesting in the Sitka spruce trees. And you never know when you'll catch a glimpse of the area's abundant marine mammals, including sea lions, otters and whales like humpbacks and orcas. As you pass by historic sites, Captain Dave will tell you about Kodiak's indigenous peoples, the days of Russian control, the fur trade and World War II.
With an unstructured itinerary, Captain Dave can chart a course to suit guests' interests and the conditions of the day.
