A little local history served up with a beer is on the menu today when you explore the highlights of Klaipeda and visit a local brewery. Your three-hour adventure begins when you visit Svyturys brewery. Founded in 1784 by the merchant J.W. Reinke, Svyturys is the second oldest brewery in Lithuania. Now paired with the Brooklyn Brewing Company and Carlsberg, Svyturys began by creating traditional bock, Bavarian and porter beers and now manufactures a wide variety of products. A tour of the soaring facilities takes you through the brewing process and ends with a sampling of five of the wares at the thriving on-site brewpub. Continue with a walking tour through Old Town, an opportunity to admire the narrow streets lined with authentic half-timbered structures. Stop at Theatre Square and photograph its iconic sculpture symbolizing love. Greet the ghost of Klaipeda sculpture as you walk over a metal bridge, then stroll along the promenade and return to the ship.
