Description
Be sure to read the Special Notes further down this page for important requirements and restriction.
Perfect for serious adventurers or families seeking a personalized tour, this tour is customized for your interest and skill level with just five or six guests per boat. The light tackle used ensures that even average sized fish are exciting and rewarding to bring aboard.
Your tour begins at a private downtown marina, where you're outfitted head to toe. You'll board an open-air boat and glide into a breathtaking landscape. Head out past the busy charter fishing areas and into secluded locations for wildlife viewing and remote fishing. With your custom light tackle, you'll experience the thrill of angling for numerous bottom fish species and whichever of the five Pacific salmon species are in season. Depending on which salmon are running, and what fishing technique is most productive, you might troll, jig or mooch. Most folks reel in a catch - this excursion is renowned for the highest catch rate of any Alaska fishing experience.
Your skiff heads to a wilderness campsite where a crackling fire awaits. You'll settle into the stillness of the rainforest, rest on a beach log and breathe deeply among centuries-old spruce trees and fragrant cedars. You'll experience this outdoor culinary adventure as the camp cook blends homemade fish broth and delicately seasoned potatoes. You'll dine on your freshly caught bottom fish served atop a saffron-infused bouillabaisse, and savor fire-warmed sourdough rolls, signature rhubarb-blueberry bread pudding and steaming mugs of coffee or hot chocolate. It's no wonder Food & Wine magazine rated this "The world's best camp meal ever." If salmon are in season and your group manages to land one, the cook will grill it fresh over the fire or a true southeast Alaska experience.
Your tour concludes with a short walk back to the ship and memories of fish tales with friends old and new.
Special Notes:
Actual tour duration varies based on your ship's time in port and will be between 4.25 to 6 hours. Minimum age is 5. Participants may not exceed 300 lbs. Participants must be physically active; the tour requires covering uneven terrain. Guests with medical conditions should take into consideration this tour operates in rough water at times. Please remember you are purchasing the opportunity to catch fish, not a guarantee of doing so.A fishing license is required and can be purchased from the tour operator while being outfitted for $25 cash per person. Children under 16 are not required to purchase a license.
Bottom fishing is done by jigging bait off the ocean floor, typically in 100 to 300 feet of water, while the boat is on anchor or drifting in one area. Each fisherman has use of their own rod and reel while fishing.
Most caught fish is eaten at the remote campsite; however, your catch can be processed and shipped home for an additional charge as arranged by the tour operator. Because of its perishable nature and U.S. Customs regulations, your catch may not be sent outside of the United States in most cases. Due to federal regulations, your catch may not be stored onboard your cruise ship, but may be prepared for dinner onboard.
