Experience one of Kauai's most popular attractions, Waimea Canyon-often called the Grand Canyon of the Pacific. From the lookout at 3,400 feet, you'll enjoy an unsurpassed view of the 2,857-foot-deep canyon and the surrounding countryside. After leaving Waimea Canyon, you will visit the beautiful South Shore area known as Poipu. You'll stop at Kauai's Spouting Horn blowhole-a natural salt water geyser-like phenomenon that sprays plumes high into the air when the surf is washed into a lava tube and sucked up through a hole in the coastal rock. The spray may reach as high as 60 feet depending on the surf conditions, and provides photographers with an added challenge in capturing one of Poipu's most iconic coastal shots. As you leave Poipu you will pass through the oldest plantation town in Hawaii-Koloa-the birth palace of the sugar industry in Hawaii.
