Travel from ancient ruins to sun-kissed sand on this walking tour. After a 30-minute drive from the harbor in your motorcoach, you'll arrive in Katakolon, your gateway to Olympia. Your first destination is the Olympia Archaeological Site, home to the Temple of Zeus, one of the Seven Wonders of the World. The Temple of Hera is yours to explore, as is Stadium where the Olympics began nearly 1,500 years ago. You'll board your motorcoach for your next stop, Kourouta Beach, one of the most famous beaches in the area. The sands stretch for over 10 miles, washed by the crystalline waters of the Ionian Sea. In the middle, next to the sea, is an unspoiled pine forest. Along the seafront are cafeterias and tavernas serving ouzo and traditional dishes. You're free to go for a swim, stroll or simply relax under the warm Grecian sun for nearly three hours.

Special Notes:

In order to protect the historic environment, local regulations require motorcoaches to park approximately 1,200 yards from the exit of the Olympia Site. The walking required is mostly flat and even.

The tour involves extensive walking over gravel and uneven path. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Passengers with limited mobility should take this into consideration

Summer weather may be extremely hot. Wear your swimsuit and bring a towel, hat, sunglasses and adequate sun protection.

This tour operates from late April through September. Kourouta Beach is popular and may be crowded during peak summer months.

Sunbeds, umbrellas, refreshments or lunch are not included in the tour. Please remember to bring local currency to purchase things from the many shops.
