Developed in the late 1920s by Jewish working-class immigrants from Greece, they were later joined by Jews from Persia, Turkey and other Balkan areas. Your culinary journey begins at the pier as you head north to the city of Tel Aviv. Dubbed the "Mediterranean Capital of Cool" by the New York Times, Israel's second largest city boasts an impressive landscape of sky-scraping buildings, golden beaches and areas dedicated to shopping.
