One of the best ways to learn about the culture of a city is through its food, so let your taste buds be your guide on this enjoyable culinary journey to Levinsky Market in Tel Aviv. And you don't have to be a gastronome to appreciate its history and colorful sights and sounds. Developed in the late 1920s by Jewish working-class immigrants from Greece, they were later joined by Jews from Persia, Turkey and other Balkan areas. Your culinary journey begins at the pier as you head north to the city of Tel Aviv. Dubbed the "Mediterranean Capital of Cool" by the New York Times, Israel's second largest city boasts an impressive landscape of sky-scraping buildings, golden beaches and areas dedicated to shopping. In south Tel Aviv sits the Levinksy Market. Join locals as they sample and shop from open burlap sacks or bins, all on a narrow, crowded street
