Enjoy a day of royal adventure as you travel to the late Queen Mother's summer residence, the Castle of Mey. Your adventure begins as you board your motorcoach bound for the Northern Highlands. After stopping for morning coffee and photos along the way, you'll arrive at the Castle. Her Majesty, the late Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother, first saw what was then Barrogill Castle in 1952, while mourning the death of her husband, King George VI. She restored it and created its beautiful gardens. While it boasts fine furnishings and paintings, the feel is much that of a private home. You'll tour the castle's apartments, the Queen Mother's bedroom, the library and the castle gardens as well as a traditional walled kitchen garden, a conservatory, and the Queen Mother's Shell Garden with her beloved shrub roses. Then, enjoy lunch at a local country inn before returning to your ship.
