Delight in a half-day adventure with lunch. Start with a guided stroll through the authentic town of La Crucecita and an opportunity to stroll through the 'zocalo' or central square, where artisan shops abound along the tree-lined streets. This enclave is a gastronomic haven of restaurants and traditional markets that offer an abundance of local specialties. You'll engage in a Mexican cooking demonstration that introduces such delicacies as Mexican chocolates, aromatic coffees, "chapulines" (crispy grasshoppers), piping hot tortillas, and mezcal. For those who opt to explore independently, the square is studded with souvenir opportunities and boutiques displaying locally made pottery and handicrafts. Continue on to lunch at La Playa Restaurant, featuring a specialty menu crafted from television personality and award-winning chef Andrew Zimmern's recipe of one of his favorite meals when visiting Huatulco: shrimp with green chilis and avocado-tomatillo sauce. A relaxed stroll returns you to port.
