Did you know that sharks have been swimming around for almost 450 million years? Or that their sleek bodies don't have any bones? Learn these fascinating facts and more as you descend into the crystal clear waters off Oahu's North Shore for a one-on-one look at some of the ocean's most amazing creatures.

Don't worry, you'll be safely surrounded by a safety cage. No scuba experience is necessary and your mask and snorkel will be provided. All you need to bring are a towel, swimwear, sunscreen, water, and a snack. And bring along an underwater camera to capture each exhilarating and memorable moment.

Your four-hour adventure begins with a leisurely ride through the island to Haleiwa Harbor. Upon arrival, you'll meet your experienced and knowledgeable captain and crew who are trained by marine biologists. Next, you'll board the 32-foot-long shark vessel and head three miles off shore. Along the way you'll receive safety instructions and discover fascinating facts about shark biology and behavior, ocean life, conservation issues and about the significance of sharks in Hawaiian culture and mythology.

You'll also learn that Hawaii has become a haven for whales and turtles, and could soon be one of the last places on earth where sharks haven't been decimated, even though the numbers are dwindling quickly.

Once the captain arrives at the shark cage, you'll don your equipment and enter the floating cage from above. Then, while surrounded by the serenity of the clear blue ocean, a number of sharks will come by to satisfy their curiosity.

There are about 40 species of sharks found in Hawaii's waters ranging from eight inches to over 50 feet and two of the most common are Galapagos and sandbar sharks. Have your camera handy as they glide up to the thick poly glass windows. Sandbars, distinguishable by their very high first dorsal fin are considered one of the safest sharks to swim with and are popular sharks for aquariums. But the Galapagos isn't so friendly; in fact, they've been known to eat other sharks.

From the safety of your cage you may also see schools of fish of an amazing variety, and whales can be seen frequenting the area showing displays of playfulness, breaching, fin waving and curiosity. On occasion they have been known to come within 10 feet of the cage for a look see. Dolphins are another species that may make an appearance during summer months, both bottle nose and spinners are common in the area.

After 30 minutes, you'll climb back out of the cage and onto the boat. With this remarkable experience scratched off your "bucket list," you'll return to the pier with a camera filled to show the folks back home.

Prescription masks are not available so please bring your own, if required. Shark sightings are highly likely but not guaranteed. Minimum age is 5 years. Participants should be agile enough to climb up/down a ladder between the side of the boat and the shark cage.
