- King crab safari
Be sure to read the Special Notes further down this page for important requirements and restriction.
Meet and eat king crab during a three-hour "bucket list" adventure into the scenic Sarnesfjord. You'll walk to the Rafting Dock and meet your knowledgeable guide for a safety lesson. Then, you'll put on your all-in-one, waterproof protective suit and step inside a deep-sea raft. As your guide cruises out of the port, you'll learn that in the 1960s, Russian scientists introduced Pacific king crab to the Barents Sea in order to increase the yield from local fisheries. Since then, millions of these crustaceans have spread west into Norwegian waters. Soon, you'll arrive at a prime crabbing location. Take photos of the crew or pitch in and help pull up a crab pot. Later, you'll visit a Sami campsite and enjoy your catch inside a a lavvo-a Sami tent with an open fire in the middle. Finally, you'll return to the raft and cruise back to the pier.
