South Stack RSPB Reserve Experience

Calling all bird lovers and nature enthusiasts! Set out in search of sea birds and beautiful, dramatic sea cliffs in South Stack RSPB Nature Reserve. Stretching out over 316 hectares (780 acres), the reserve is home to 11,000 seabirds, including puffins, guillemots, razorbills, kittiwake and fulmars. A South Stack expert, a member of the RSPB, will lead you on a walk through the reserve and help you identify birds and wildlife of interest. While some birds leave the reserve in July once breeding season is over, there are many that can be seen throughout the year such as peregrine falcons and ravens. South Stack is also one of the best places to see the chough. Easily identifiable by its bright red beak and legs, the rarest member of the crow family can be seen performing acrobatic displays in the sea cliffs. Step softly and you may hear its unmistakable "chee-ow" call. After the guided walk, enjoy time to explore independently and take photos of the wildflowers that blanket the cliffs in spring and summer including spotted rock rose, Anglesey's county flower. At the visitors' center you can find information about the reserve and rent binoculars.
