Feel like royalty on this self-explored tour of exquisite Penrhyn Castle. Your four-hour adventure begins with a lovely 60-minute scenic drive across the beautiful landscapes of Anglesey. Cross the Menai Strait into Wales over the Britannia Bridge. Continue to Bangor and Penrhyn Castle, a National Trust Property considered one of the finest mock castles in England. Built between 1820 and 1833 by the famed architect Thomas Hopper, this neo-Norman masterpiece was constructed on the site of a medieval manor home for the second Lord Penrhyn, the politician George Hay Dawkins-Pennant. Step inside and marvel at the ornate interior, which features handmade wallpaper, luxurious carpets and stained-glass windows. The castle's art collection, which is now considered to be the finest in Wales, includes works by Canaletto. Be sure to stroll the parklike grounds' Victorian walled garden. Settle in for the relaxed drive back to port.
