Marvel at the natural wonders of the Big Island on a half-day adventure spent appreciating the island's great outdoors. Take in lush scenery as you climb through a verdant rainforest to Volcanoes National Park. Upon arrival at this UNESCO World Heritage Site, you'll travel along portions of Crater Rim Drive and Chain of Craters Road for spectacular views of the park's otherworldly landscapes: twisted lava rock flows, sulfur banks, and lava beds. You will see panoramic vistas of Kilauea Caldera and Halema'uma'u Crater, located near the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory, and you will stop at the Thurston Lava Tube for a short walk through a tree-fern forest to a fascinating cave-like tube. There will also be a stop at the Visitor Center for exhibits explaining the history and geology of Hawaii's volcanoes. Next, you'll set off to see the lovely 80-foot-high Rainbow Falls, named for the sunlight's effect on the spray, before returning to port via a scenic route.
Special Notes:
This tour of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park does not view molten lava flows. Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a hat, rain jacket and umbrella in case of showers. There are steps and some rough terrain inside the Thurston Lava Tube. Tour order may vary.Details
