Your full-day tour begins with a short drive to the ferry terminal. You'll cross the Öresund strait by ferry and arrive in Denmark, in historic Elsinore, an area rich in history, culture and the arts. You'll hop on a motorcoach for a short drive to Kronborg Castle, a renaissance castle built in 1420 to help enforce the collection of taxes.

From the outside, the mixture of elegant royal castle and brutal military fortress is imposing. Inside, you'll find this structure, testimony to the art, design, royal values, and way of life prevalent during the renaissance and baroque periods. As you stroll through Knight's hall, the largest room (approximately 200 ft. x 35 ft.) in Northern Europe, and the vast courtyard replete with cannon-lined ramparts, you'll quickly understand why William Shakespeare chose Kronborg as the setting for his famous play "Hamlet." Now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Kronborg is must-see for Shakespeare fans and royalty buffs.

Next, you'll take a guided walk through Elsinore's ancient cobbled streets dotted with timber-framed houses and restored cobbled by-ways.

Your tour winds down with a ferry ride back to the terminal. Before calling it a day, you'll take a panoramic drive to view Helsingborg's landmarks, such as the medieval "keep" of Kärnan, the sole remaining structure from Helsingborg Castle, and the main square (Stortorget) featuring its prominent neo-Gothic Town Hall.

Special Notes:

At Kronborg Castle, expect an approximate 600-yard walk to and from the Castle, and at Elsinore, there will be approximately a 700-yard walk within the city. The tour passes many cobbled stoned streets on foot.

Bring Swedish and Danish kronor and/or credit cards for additional purchases.

Wear comfortable walking shoes and dress according to the day's conditions. Bring a hat and a light sweater or jacket.

Tour may operate in a reverse order. Guests must bring their passports with on the tour as random passport checks can be made between Denmark and Sweden.
