History buffs will be thrilled to discover of the Arquebus War History Museum, offering a step back in time to the period of the German occupation in April 1940 through to the Allied victory in Europe and the German defeat in Berlin in 1945. A short motorcoach drive is an opportunity to see some of the highlights of Haugesund, including its landmark City Hall. Arrive at the comprehensive museum with over 6,000 artifacts and displays. Peruse large-scale reproduction dioramas, historical objects, real tanks and equipment. Mannequins adorned in historical garb and a replica street with building façades makes the experience both educational and interactive. It's an ideal way for all ages to appreciate the contributions made by the merchant marine navy, those on the home front, and the covert operations that led to liberation. Stop in the gift shop for a memento, then drive to the Steinsfjellet Viewpoint for panoramic vistas that extend over Haugesund and the North Sea. Return to port at the conclusion of this fascinating day.

Essential information: The WWII scenes are located on the ground floor which is wheelchair accessible. The first floor houses display cabinets with additional clothing and weapons, however this is only accessible via 18 steps. Approximately 1½ hours spent in the museum.
