The authentic beauty of Haines comes to life when you discover its charms via biking and hiking followed by a sampling of locally brewed craft beer. The sights are plentiful so be sure to bring binoculars and a camera. Your adventure starts with a scenic two-mile ride along the coast to the Battery Point Trailhead, where you'll embark on a pleasant hike. With a guide-naturalist leading the way, you'll walk a well-maintained trail that follows the shoreline and winds through an old growth forest. About a mile-and-a-half later, you'll arrive at a picturesque pebble beach where you may see many types of wildlife. Relax and breathe in the fresh air before hiking back to your bike and continuing on to the Haines Brewing Company, one of Alaska's most beloved beer producers. Those 21 and older can sample locally brewed beers; specially brewed root beer and tea are also available. Refreshed, you'll bike back to the pier.
