Chilkoot Lake Scenic Cruise

Your tour begins as you board your motorcoach for a scenic drive to Chilkoot Lake. En route, your guide shares enthralling stories of Native lore, local and natural history and tales of the life in Alaska.

Upon arriving at the lake, you'll board an open-air pontoon boat that promises breathtaking views of the lake and mountains.

You'll have the chance to watch spawning sockeye salmon and the bald eagles and giant brown bears that feed upon the fish, undisturbed by your presence. Mountain goats are often seen grazing along the cliffs. Black bear feed on the intermediate slopes in the late spring/early summer and moose are sometimes seen on the flats. Birds of all types may be seen from the coastal estuary to the glacial inlet river. Untouched forests of spruce, hemlock, cottonwood and alder cloak the lower mountains, waterfalls roar down from the snow-capped peaks and glaciers shine above.

Be sure to bring your camera - eagles, bears, wildlife and breathtaking scenery make for a myriad of photo opportunities. Your tour concludes with a scenic drive back to the pier while you reflect on this hidden jewel of southeast Alaska.
