Discover the vibrant art of the flamenco, which personifies the fiery passion, artistry and culture unique to the area. Originating during the 16th century, this folk dance from southern Spain's Andalusia region also encompasses music and song. A well-established professional dancer will lead you step-by-step, no previous knowledge required. Upon arrival at the Gibraltar-Spain border, you'll embark on a short walk to the city of La Linea and the dance studio inside "Casa de la Cultura" (House of Culture). After donning the appropriate attire, you'll learn different dance steps, rhythmic patterns, and skirt and arm movements. Then, when you've mastered each step you'll be rewarded with champagne! After your exhilarating lesson, you'll head back to your ship. If time allows, an optional drop off at Grand Casemates Gate (access to Main Street shopping) will be offered, however you are responsible to make your way back to the ship.
Special Notes:
The class is led by a professional dancer with over 10 years of experience in the field. Wear comfortable clothes and a hat, and if it's a hot day wear sunscreen for the walk from the Border to the house of culture.Wear comfortable shoes. Guests must be in good physical conditions if they wish to actively participate to the Flamenco lessons. You will be traveling in a mini-coach with driver/guide only. There is no storage for wheelchairs, scooters or walking devices in the transport.
