WHAT YOU VISIT
Tokoname Pottery Pathway
The 900-year-old city of Tokoname is one of Japan's six most important ancient kiln towns and had the largest output of ceramics of any kiln town in the Edo period (1600 to 1868). Tokoname was a major producer of ceramic water pipes and is known for its signature "redware" and fine Japanese teapots. The city is so proud of its ceramic heritage that an outdoor gallery known as the Pottery Footpath is a collection of winding streets lined with pots, kilns, and a string of ceramic-themed museums and buildings.

Handa Red Brick Building
Located in the city of Handa, Built in 1898 as a brewery for Kabuto Beer, the five-story building located in the city of Handa is the largest red brick building remaining from the Meiji Period (1868 to 1912) and is designated a National Tangible Cultural Property. Beer is no longer brewed in the old factory but a local restaurant does supply beer for those 20 years and older to sample.
