Travel to Florence, the jewel of the Renaissance, for a guided, small group walking experience rich in cultural and artistic significance on this full-day adventure that includes a visit to the Accademia (Academy of Fine Arts). Your 90-minute scenic motorcoach ride from Livorno brings you to the city's center where you'll begin at the steps of Il Duomo. Here, you'll see Giotto's Bell Tower, the Baptistery and the "Gates of Paradise." Stroll further and discover the Piazza della Signoria, Florence's governmental center adorned with magnificent statues. Stop to photograph the famed Ponte Vecchio bridge and the Piazza St. Croce. Then, enjoy one hour exploration of the Accademia (Academy of Fine Arts) home to David by Michelangelo and other masterpieces. Pause for a Tuscan lunch and some free time for shopping. Your tour concludes with a countryside ride to Pisa and its famous Leaning Tower located in the Square of Miracles, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Return to port.

The Accademia is closed on Mondays, May 1st and on some other holidays. A visit to the interior of Santa Croce Church will be substituted. The chapels adjacent to the altar are decorated with Giotto's frescoes of St. Francis and St. John. Santa Croce also possesses Donatello's eloquent "Annunciation." Proper attire that covers shoulders and knees is recommended for both men and women for the Church of Santa Croce. Also, photography is not permitted inside.
The drive between Livorno and Florence is approximately 1 1/2 hours each way, subject to traffic conditions.
All sightseeing will be on foot, as motorcoaches are not allowed in the main center of Florence. Most of the sights are seen from the outside only.
Please be aware that ongoing restoration work is often being carried out at the various sites in the city.
