WHAT YOU VISIT:
Archeological Museum
You'll spend 45 minutes at the small but fascinating Archeological Museum, which contains Roman ruins and discoveries from both sea and land. Since ancient times, Elba was a crossroads for commercial sea traffic and many antiquities were found on stranded Roman ships in Elba's waters. The presence of iron on the island was historically important to the Etruscan, Greek and Roman civilizations that have lived on Elba throughout the years.
WHAT YOU SEE ALONG THE WAY:
Your mini-train will allow you some spectacular coastal views. Ghiaie is the "town beach" of Portoferraio, with crystal clear waters, a white pebble beach and adjacent gardens. Padulella beach also features spectacular clear water and a secluded pebble beach. You'll also ride along the waterfront of Portoferraio, Elba's capital; because of the sloping terrain, many of the city's structures are built on the hillside, surrounded by the sea.
SNACK:
At Punta Linguella, you'll have the opportunity to visit a local gelateria, where you can choose your favorite flavor and enjoy a cone of authentic Italian gelato. This Italian-style ice cream is lower in fat than traditional ice cream, but more than makes up for it with its incredible flavor and richness!
