What you will visit:
Powerscourt Estate and Gardens
Enter this lavish estate along an avenue lined with 200-year-old beech trees. Originally a strategic site for the Anglo-Normans who came to Ireland in the 12th century, in the year 1300, a castle was built by the le Poer (Power) family, from which it takes its name. The grounds are superbly landscaped, formal, Italian and Japanese gardens set against the background of the Wicklow Hills. An audio-video presentation orients guests.
Dublin
Dublin, a thriving city steeped in tradition is the capital of the Irish Republic. In addition to its splendid public buildings, it is rich in the domestic architecture of the 18th century as well as historic Georgian mansions, lending beauty to the city's wide streets and spacious squares.
What you will see along the way:
Following a brief introduction to Dublin City, you will travel to County Wicklow and Powerscourt Estate, driving through the countryside gazing upon the wild heather-covered glens and tranquil landscapes for which the Irish countryside is famous.
Lunch:
Lunch is on your own in Dublin, where you'll find an array of pubs and cafes serving up local favorites and international delights at a variety of price points. Carry local currency.
Shopping:
The 18th-century estate offers specialty shops selling linens, woolens, crafts and souvenirs. Back in Dublin, bustling boutiques invite you to shop 'til you drop.
