Designed for military buffs and history lovers, this fascinating and informative tour offers a look at Australia's involvement in international conflicts from the Boer War to the present day. First on the agenda is a self-guided tour of the Darwin Military Museum. Set among gun emplacements and other fortifications, the museum focuses on the history of northern Australia's defenses, with a special exhibition called the Bombing of Darwin Experience, an interactive attraction that details the bombing of Darwin in 1942. Next is Charles Darwin National Park, a beautiful wetland area containing a network of World War II-era concrete bunkers built as part of Australia's northern defense. Stroll along the park's scenic pathways, view the fortifications and visit the visitors center to see the display of WWII memorabilia and learn about the history of the area. Stop at the scenic lookout platform for camera-ready views of Darwin Harbor and the surrounding wetlands.
