What you will visit:
Ostrich Farm
Curaçao's ostrich farm offers a unique opportunity to learn how these unusual birds live and breed. The ostrich is a flightless bird, native to Africa. It has a distinctive appearance – a long neck and legs – and the ability to run 45 miles per hour, which is the top speed for any land bird. Not only are they the largest living species of birds, but they lay the largest eggs. Experience the ostrich farm by safari Jeep with a local guide, who will escort you as you meet some of the farm's more than 600 birds. Help feed the ostriches and observe them in their natural habitat while learning about the life cycle of these fascinating animals. Perhaps you'll see baby chicks and hold a huge ostrich egg in your hands, and if you are lucky, you might witness the hatching of a baby ostrich. Before you head off to your next venue, be sure to visit the gift shop for a memento of the birds seen on this special day. Discover a wide array of African Caribbean souvenirs, including plain and decorated ostrich eggs.
Chichi's, Gallery
A gallery and workshop of crafts and collectibles. Chichi's is a nickname for the eldest daughter and/or sister of a Curaçao woman. At this gallery, they make sculptures in full-figured forms and paint them bright colors. Every sculpture is unique and a wonderful cultural souvenir of Curaçao.
What you will visit:
Drive through the Otrobanda district, a cultural hub. Enjoy a commanding view of the city and harbor entrance at the famous Emma Bridge, also known as the "Swinging Lady." See the unique construction of this bridge supported by 16 floating pontoon boats. On the other side of the harbor entrance, you'll also see Ft. Amsterdam, the area's most important fort and a World Heritage Site that is home to the governor of Curaçao. After the ostrich farm, you'll head into the city and see the beautiful center with its brightly painted buildings. Today, these magnificent restored mansions are what make the capital a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
