For a vacation truly off the beaten path, you can't go wrong with this tour that offers an enriching and immersive once-in-a-lifetime experience designed for families including kids as young as seven. First on the itinerary is a hike to Imbros Gorge, an 11-kilometer (eight-mile) long canyon renowned for its striking rock formations and diverse flora and fauna. From the pier, you'll travel south into the heart of the island to the village of Chora Sfakion. From here, you'll follow your guide through the limestone gorge past towering cliffs and narrow passages, some only two meters (six feet) wide. While not steep or difficult, the gentle path can be rocky but with plenty of pine trees and panoramic views. The hike ends in Komitades. A short drive will take you to Sfakia village where you can opt for a refreshing swim followed by a traditional lunch in a charming taverna.
