Grab your camera for a fascinating day of exploration that begins with a short drive to the Akrotiri Peninsula and the tomb of Elefthérios Venizélos, once a dominant figure in Cretan and Greek political life. This pilgrimage spot entices visitors with its fantastic views over Chania and the White Mountains. Continue to Chania's Old Town, built on the site of the ancient city of Kydonia, where you'll enjoy a guided 1.5-hour walk introducing you to the history and atmosphere of this special town. Take in the beautifully restored Venetian buildings, pass the cathedral dedicated to the patron saint of Chania, glimpse the Mosque of Hassan Pasha, the stately lighthouse, and the Forteza before venturing on to the Turkish section of the town. A brief photo stop will be made at the British War Cemetery.
