Visit St. Michael's Mount on this half-day excursion. This small granite island is accessible only by a narrow path exposed at low tide or by boat. The dramatic, rocky island once boasted a Benedictine priory that was inspired by the famous Mont St. Michel in Normandy. The Mount has also served as a private home to the St. Aubyn family for more than three centuries. Climb the steep pathway to the castle entrance, enjoying dramatic views of Land's End and the Lizard. You'll enter the 12th-century castle at the West Door and take in the Great Hall, St. John's Room, the Armoury, and in the oldest section of the castle, the Library and Chevy Chase Room, originally the monk's refectory. At the island's summit stands the priory church, still used for public worship.
Special Notes:
Crossing to and from St. Michael's Mount will either be via the causeway walk or by boat depending on tidal conditions.The climb from the harbour to St. Michael's Mount is steep and slippery. Wear shoes with non-slip soles. The Causeway and the Mount's paths are cobbled and uneven.
This tour will not operate on Saturdays as the site is closed.
