Be sure to read the Special Notes further down this page for important requirements and restriction.
Blarney Castle is truly a must-see for anyone visiting this beautiful country. Your four-hour tour takes in the romantic ruins dating back to 1446 and includes time to browse the Blarney Woolen Mill Shop. A countryside motorcoach drive brings you to Blarney Village and the famed castle ruins surrounded by parkland. The castle was once a stronghold of the McCarthy clan, and in some places the stone walls are over 18 feet thick, offering an impenetrable defense against invaders. There are many versions of how the Blarney stone came to the castle; the most likely is that it is half of the stone of Scone (which currently resides in Westminster Abbey in London, England) and was brought back from the crusades. Then, stroll around the pretty village and visit the Blarney Woolen Mill shop for high-quality Irish goods. Return to port.
Special Notes:
The drive to Blarney Castle from Cobh is approximately one hour each way.You will have approximately 2 hours at the Blarney Castle & Woolen Mill shop.
Reaching the Blarney Stone requires climbing a great number of steps; the stairway is narrow, steep and twisting. Passengers with physical limitations need to take this into consideration. Passengers should expect crowds and delays when entering the castle. There is quite often a wait in line to climb the steps, with wait times in excess of two hours; there may be insufficient time on the tour to enter the castle including seeing the Blarney Stone.
