A unique day-long adventure perfectly designed for the first-time visitor to Ireland is enhanced with an intimate, Small Groups experience. An approximately 60-minute picturesque motorcoach ride traverses the countryside to the village of Kinsale, where you'll delight in independent exploration of its charming streets and harbor. Continue on to Cork City for a short driving tour followed by an Irish lunch accompanied by musicians in a local hotel. Next, visit the ruins of Blarney Castle, dating back to 1446. Once a stronghold of the McCarthy clan, it features 18-foot-thick stone walls. The adventurous may join the line to climb a long flight of narrow steps to kiss the famous Blarney stone; those who do are said to be endowed with the gift of eloquence. After exploring the grounds, stroll to Blarney Woolen Mill Shop, a converted mill that offers a wonderful array of traditional Irish goods, including Waterford crystal, hand-loomed Donegal tweed, Irish linen and Celtic brooches. Settle in for the relaxed drive back to port.
Special Notes:
Small Groups tours visit the same sites and venues as the standard tours with the added benefit of being in a small group, however at the sites and venues you may be exposed to other groups visiting sites and attractions at the same time.Reaching the Blarney Stone requires climbing a great number of steps; the stairway is narrow, steep and twisting. Passengers with physical limitations need to take this into consideration. Passengers should expect crowds and delays when entering the castle. There is quite often a wait in line to climb the steps with wait times in excess of two hours; there may be insufficient time on the tour to enter the castle including seeing the Blarney Stone. Please wear comfortable, low-heeled and non-slip footwear. Air conditioned vehicles are not guaranteed.
