A scenic 30-minute drive brings you to the neo-classical Achilleion Palace home to Empress Elizabeth of Austria, for a visit to its gardens. Upon arriving, you may be awe-struck - perhaps from its sheer magnificence or because it feels oddly familiar; Achilleion Palace was featured in the James Bond classic, "For Your Eyes Only." En route, you'll see the Old Fortress that stands guard over the harbor and Corfu. Corfu Town is your next stop. With a guide by your side, you'll visit such sites as the Palace of St. Michael and St. George, once home to Corfu's British rulers. You're free to follow the narrow streets and small plazas to the church of St. Spyridon.
Special Notes:
At Achilleion Palace, you will visit the gardens only. Anticipate two staircases without handrails to visit its gardens.Shorts are not permitted in St. Spyridon Church; women must cover their shoulders.
The old town of Corfu will be explored on foot over level terrain - those with physical limitations should take this into consideration.
Photos and video cameras are not permitted in the Church of St. Spyridon. Guide portion of Church of St. Spyridon will be conducted outside the church. Use of an audio headset (included) will enhance your tour experience.
