This guided, half-day adventure introduces you to Corfu's splendid historic and cultural highlights. Begin with a scenic, 30-minute motorcoach drive en route to your first destination the 100-year-old, Achilleion Palace. Take in the colorful lemon, orange and olive groves, and keep your camera at the ready as you pass such sights as the Old Fortress standing guard over the harbor, Cricket Square, and the Palace of St. George and St. Michael with its stately arcade buildings. Arriving at the elegant Achilleion Palace, built by the Empress Elisabeth of Austria, you'll be treated to a tour of its ornate interior, intricate murals, and blooming gardens and statuary. Continue on to a private villa, where you'll be welcomed with a traditional lunch served with wine or ouzo and a folkloric show. Stroll the lush grounds and take a dip in the pool (weather permitting) before the relaxing drive back to port.
Special Notes:
Flash photos are not permitted in the Palace. Use of an audio headset (included) will enhance your tour experience.Anticipate a few steps to visit the Achilleion Palace plus two staircases without handrails to visit its gardens. The old town of Corfu will be explored on foot over level terrain and streets. Wear comfortable walking shoes.
