Hike through a protected beech forest, recognized as a UNESCO Natural World Heritage Site. Your specialized hiking guide will show you first-hand the importance of this forest, a center of study for many years due to its unique characteristics, making it a truly exceptional place.Learn about the research project funded by the National Geographic Society and led by National Geographic Explorer Alfredo di Filippo, Associate Professor at Università della Tuscia, whose goal is to explore the full structure and growth history of the oldest beech trees in natural old-growth forests in central-southern Europe. On this hiking tour, you'll also learn about their efforts for the conservation and sustainability of these natural habitats.

The minimum age to participate is 6. The tour includes approximately 5 miles (3 hours) of walking including photo stops and walking breaks. The elevation gain is approximately 244 meters (800 feet).Wear sturdy, comfortable hiking shoes. The terrain is unpaved and uneven. Bring water and head cover.
