Enjoy a leisurely morning before an afternoon of sightseeing when you embark on a relaxed-departure tour for Rome. A scenic 90-minute motorcoach ride brings you to the Eternal City, where you'll begin a narrated city tour of a selection of landmarks and highlights. Your drive may take you past such sights as Castel Sant'Angelo Circus Maximus, the Arch of Constantine and the mighty Colosseum. Travel to Vatican City and disembark at the magnificent St. Peter's Square, with its fountains and semicircular colonnades crowned with statues of the saints. Here, you will have one hour to explore the bustling square, hunt for souvenirs and visit the framed Basilica, with the largest interior of any Christian church in the world. Return to the motorcoach and drive to a dining establishment for refreshments before embarking on the picturesque drive back to port.
Special Notes:
This tour is not available to passengers beginning or ending their voyage in Civitavecchia (Rome).The drive between Civitavecchia and Rome is approximately 1 1/2 hours each way, subject to traffic conditions.
Guests must be able to walk approximately 0.6 mile over uneven surfaces.
There may be an additional walk of approximately 15 minutes to reach Vatican's Square from the designated bus parking area.
Guests wishing to visit St. Peter's Basilica must be aware that proper attire that covers shoulders and legs must be worn by both men and women - mini-skirts, shorts and capri pants are not acceptable.
At St. Peter's Basilica visitors must pass through metal detectors. Large bags or umbrellas, bottled water, video cameras, knives or scissors must be checked at the desk.
Guests are advised that long queues to enter St. Peter's Basilica are to be expected.
Please be aware that Basilica might close for security reason at any given time without previous notice.
Should the designed motor coach drop off / pick up point for St. Peters Basilica and Vatican Museum (Sistine Chapel) be congested or unavailable, an alternative drop off / pick up point location will be used. Please note that an additional walking portion of 0.6 miles from / to the alternative location should be considered.
Please be aware that ongoing restoration work is often being carried out at the various venues visited.
Most shops are closed on Sundays and holidays and maintain seasonal hours.
This tour may operate in reverse order.
Medical Restriction:
