Be sure to read the Special Notes further down this page for important requirements and restriction.
France's spectacular landmark Mont Saint-Michel comes in view after a two-hour drive. Steeped in history and legend, explore this UNESCO World Heritage Site that dates back to 709 A.D. on a full-day tour. Legend has it that the Archangel Michael called upon a local bishop and told him to "build here and build high." Designed as a medieval castle, it features two towers to defend its entrance. Travel through the medieval town with cobblestone streets and quaint shops, and board a shuttle bus that takes you to the base of the mount, which is crowned by the abbey. Walk up a steep flight of stairs and begin a narrated tour of the Gothic abbey, the delicate cloister with spectacular views, the austere dining quarters and the Romanesque foundation. Then, enjoy independent exploration of the church and the village where you can purchase lunch and shop for mementos and souvenirs. Conclude with a relaxing ride back to port.
