Leave the ship for a once-in-a-lifetime Overland Tour to Desert Grace Lodge, set amidst the 55-million-year-old Namib Desert.
Following your flight to Windhoek and on to the Sossusvlei Airstrip, you'll travel via 4WD to Desert Grace Lodge and check in. After breakfast on Day Two, enjoy unique and exceptional adventures available for purchase: Sossusvlei Excursion, a guided morning drive or sundowner drive to view some of the highest dunes on Earth; Morning/Afternoon Nature Drive offers a look at wonders of the Namib Desert around Gondwana Namib Park; Self-Guided Walking Trail excursion allows you to set your own pace in the Namib Desert; Guided Desert Night Walk is ideal for discovering the desert's nocturnal creatures.
The desert wildlife includes ostrich, oryx, and springbok. A diverse array of insects, reptiles, and rodents make their home in the desert sands, and if you are lucky you may see Sossusvlei's smaller carnivores, such as bat-eared fox, jackal, and brown hyena.
Day Three after breakfast, check out and transfer to the airstrip for charter flight to Walvis Bay Airport where you'll be met by an English-speaking representative who'll transfer you to Walvis Bay Harbor.

VISASIt is each guest's sole responsibility to obtain (before traveling) any visas, vaccinations and/or tourist cards that are required for participating in Overland Adventures or Overnight Tours, unless noted otherwise in the description. Please be aware that you may need a visa for any and/or all countries that you will depart from and travel through as part of your overland adventure or overnight tour, and for the country in which you will re-join the ship.
BOOKINGS TERMS & CONDITIONS
Please note that this overland price is per person based on Double occupancy. Both guests must book. This double occupancy option should only be booked by two passengers who are travelling together. We do not match independent passengers to create double occupancy. Passengers traveling alone should book the single occupancy option CPT-832. The minimum age to participate is 6.
Due to this tour's popularity, exclusivity, and strict booking conditions, tour bookings must be confirmed 90 days prior to the call of the overland's departure with no cancellations permitted thereafter.
Waitlisted requests also become non-refundable if confirmed either onboard or within the 90-day period prior to the cruise. Any cancelled requests inside of 90 days prior to the voyage (i.e. bookings cancelled on the Cruise Personalizer) will be assessed cancellation fees on your shipboard account. Waitlisted requests will be cleared in the order received and are subject to the same cancellation policy; waitlisted requests must be cancelled 90 days prior to the cruise to avoid cancellation costs in the case we are able to accommodate you on the tour. Excursions are not included and they may be purchased at the Lodge.
Please note that this tour is Overland is not fully guided. You will be escorted on all transfers to and from the airports. At the changeover of flights in Windhoek, you will be met by a representative and assisted to their charter flight.
All the optional excursions that may be purchased at the Lodge (except the self-explored walking trail) are guided.
RECOMMENDATIONS
The list of optional activities is subject to change by the lodge management without prior notice. These may be changed due to prevailing weather conditions. During early morning drives in open vehicles it can be a little cool. We recommend that guests take along a windbreaker. During the day, it can get extremely hot. The game drive vehicles are not covered, and guests are therefore exposed to the elements. Some vehicles may not be equipped with PA system. Guests are therefore advised not to forget their sunhats, mosquito repellent, sun block, sunglasses, as well as their cameras and binoculars. Wildlife sightings are not guaranteed.
MEDICAL RESTRICTIONS
Please be aware that this is a malaria risk area and that the necessary medication has been taken. Please note that 4x4 vehicles traverse uneven terrain and that they can be bumpy. This tour is therefore not recommended for guests with back and neck problems. This Overland is not recommended for guests using mobility devices.
