WHAT YOU VISIT
Tjapukai Cultural Park
The Tjapukai, whose name means "People of the Rainforest," once inhabited the region from Cairns to Port Douglas and inland to Kuranda. Dedicated to preserving authentic Aboriginal culture, the Tjapukai Aboriginal Culture Park uses modern technology, theaters, a museum, an art gallery and a traditional Aboriginal camp to bring 40,000 years of Australian history to life. Gain an insight into the gathering and cooking of bush foods and the medicinal values of native plants. Learn first-hand from a warrior about traditional hunting methods and tribal law. Throw a spear with the help of a traditional milay spear thrower and learn the art of throwing a boomerang or playing a didgeridoo. Play a didgeridoo, sample food cooked in the Bayngga underground oven and hear the spiritual and traditional stories of the Tjapukai people.

PHOTO OPPORTUNITY
Snap and let the world see you joining the world famous Tjapukai Aboriginal dancers in a colorful corroboree celebration and fire making ceremony.
