Spend the day exploring the highs and lows of the rainforest beginning with shopping for arts and crafts at Kuranda Village, a picturesque mountain retreat inside the World Heritage Rainforest. Once you've found that perfect souvenir, your adventure continues aboard the Kuranda Scenic Railway. Built between 1886 and 1891 to connect Cairns with the North Queensland goldfields, the route is a photographer's delight. The spectacular ride offers sights of deep gorges and rugged mountains, taking you past magnificent waterfalls, through 15 tunnels and across 37 bridges on your journey up the Kuranda Ranges-part of Barron Gorge National Park. For a different perspective of the rainforest, you'll soar over the treetops aboard the Skyrail Rain Forest Cableway. Below you are spectacular views of the region and vistas of the sparkling North Queensland coast out to the Coral Sea and Green Island.
