Description

Be sure to read the Special Notes further down this page for important requirements and restriction.

Your excursion begins at the pier as you board your air-conditioned motorcoach and travel east on the drive to Hondarribia. The upper half of this village near the French border dates from the Middle Ages; its lower half is lined with picturesque fishermen's quarters. Your guided walking tour explores the old medieval town and travels down narrow alleys past ancient houses sporting carved eaves and iron balconies. Notice the Parador, which was once a fortified tower and is now a quaint inn.

Travel through the rolling Basque countryside with its hills and dales. En route to San Sebastian, stop for a photo opportunity at Mt. Igueldo, as the viewpoint offers a stunning panorama of San Sebastian, its oyster-shaped Bay of La Concha and Mt. Urgull.

San Sebastian was first made popular by Queen Regent Maria Cristina in 1886. Today this belle époque resort is noted for its international film festival. The city highlights include the De la Zurriola Bridge, the Victoria Eugenia Theatre and the new Kursaal Congress Centre, designed by Spanish architect Rafael Moneo, and home to the film festival.

Afterwards, you'll have free time to browse the Old Quarter for handicrafts, leather goods, ceramics and souvenirs, and enjoy a meal at one of the local hotels before re-boarding your motorcoach for the return trip back to your cruise ship.

Special Notes:

Participation is limited.

Most stores in the Old Quarter are closed on Sundays.

There is approximately 2 hours of walking required during the guided portion of the tour, some of which is over some cobblestones in Hondarribia. Guests with walking difficulties should take this into consideration.
